I got this to actually use during frigid winter months when wool is the best fabric and I need a quick covering. It will double as a prop for various things -- plays, cosplay, Halloween. The cape itself is very heavy, and while the wool is not incredibly heavy (not thick, felted wool), it's tightly woven and will be insulating and water resistant. The lining is a polyester with a similar color to the wool, with a slight shine to it, so could pass for satin, lending a bit more historical accuracy. What I love is the fit. The hood's drape is gorgeous and very Elven, and the cloak has such a lovely swing to it when moving. It fits my narrow shoulders very well, and is long enough to just barely brush the ground if I'm in flats or barefoot. With slight heels, it's safely off the ground. I'm 5'5" so for anyone shorter (i.e., Hobbits, Mountain Dwarves, children...), it will drag on the ground. The clasp is detailed. I didn't even notice it when ordering, so the leather background and metal detail was a surprise. The cloak closes with a faux-bone frog, which works very well and seems durable.
